Beach Theme

As discussed earlier in the week, I love postcards with a theme both on the front and the back! This one comes from Postcrossing Forum member Blue_Fox in Michigan. This card has the perfect summer beach theme. I must admit, beaches are often underwhelming for me since I both grew up and still currently live in Florida. Also, being from Florida I don't consider a lake or river to be a "beach" whether it has sand or not. As I grow older, I'm starting to become more accepting that "a beach" doesn't have to refer to sandy area + ocean, but a "beach" can be any sandy area in front of a body of water, especially a body of water that has tides, like how the Great Lakes do (at least from what I hear). Now, I'm very OCD about how I categorize things in my mind, I don't like ambiguity, it's either a beach or it's not... but anyway I'm rambling and this blog post could really become quite lengthy if I'm going into the way things are organized in my mind.

Also, I'd like to add, I have quite a fascination with lake retreats since here in Florida we don't involve ourselves with lakes. We don't swim in them or even dip our toes in because... alligators. Yes, even in ankle deep water people have been dragged to their watery deaths by gators. So, it's fascinating to me that in other states people can swim in fresh water.

Anyways, here's a lovely beach / summer-themed postcard!

Even the seashell postcard stamp is fitting!
